This Day in History: 1703-10-23

1703 – Malmesbury – HANNAH TWYNNOY died.  She was a servant at the White Lion Inn,  which housed exotic beasts for exhibition, after repeatedly being told not to tease the animals, and ignoring the requests, the tiger lunged for her and broke its fixings from the wall, and grabbing her clothes ‘tore her to pireces’.  Each year flowers are laid on her grave by all the children of the parish named Hannah in remembrance of her.
