The Church of Holy Cross
Just west of Pewsey lies the attractive little church of Wilcot; it has an interesting chancel arch of the 12th-13th century, a west tower and a belfry opening elaborated in the style of the Somerset towers.
Wilcot (Old English wiella=spring cot=cottage) is a charming little village in the Pewsey Vale. The church (Holy Cross) was burnt some years ago, but has been rebuilt. (The Little Guides, Muthuem 1949)

Oare

Oare – Holy Trinity
The Church of Holy Trinity
Oare lies in that district of hill forts, camps, and earthworks traversed by the Wansdyke between the Kennet and the Vale of Pewsey. The church (Holy Trinity) of plain red brick, a somewhat unusual material here, dates from 1858. The hanging woods of Rainscombe Park, prettily embosom the secluded village. Martinsell Hill and camp are a little to the NE. (The Little Guides, Muthuem 1949)
