The Church of St. Michael

(Tidda’s Valley) lies at the foot of the downs below Chute Causeway, where the roman road from Winchester to Cirencester runs along the ridge. By the side of this road on the ridge above the village is a long barrow. The church (St Michael) is chiefly decorated with a low perpendicular tower. There are two piscinae with shelves, a fine Jacobean pulpit and tester, and a Norman font. Built into the east wall of north aisle are some old encaustic tiles. The brick porch is dated 1675.
