Parish History
This parish includes the hamlet of Fullaway
Stert (old english ‘steort’ = tail end of land); the church (St James) was rebuilt in 1866. On the main road from Devizes to Andover near here is a handsome obelisk recording a road improvement in 1768 by James Long of Wedhampton, when a new road made avoiding a ‘former tedious and dangerous way over the adjacent hill’.
