The Parish Church of St. Cosmas and St. Damian
A small village in the Wylye valley with thatched cottages grouped in picturesque fashion around extensive watercress beds. The original dedication of the church in 1553 to Sts. Cosmos and Damien, two eastern saints, is curious. It is a small building originally in the Decorative style, rebuilt in 1624. It contains much good Jacobean woodwork, notably the pews, pulpit, altar, and altar rails; the old circular font has also a Jacobean cover. Note many painted texts etc, dated 1630, and the porch dated 1624. To the West of the church is a moat and a mound, on the top of which stood a castle belonging to the Giffards.
