Parish Church of St. George at Preshute by R. H. Lane & E. G. H. Kempson 1959, reprinted 2010. This is a 20 page booklet on the church and architecture of St. George and the history of the parish. Available from the Church.
Parish History
Just above Marlborough College the old mother church of Preshute stands beside the Kennet. Within the parish the Conqueror founded his great castle of Marlborough; the church holds as its chief treasure what is believed to be the castle font, a squat column of black Tournai marble. Legend has it that King John was baptised at this font.
The Parish includes the village of Manton and the hamlet of Clatford
