Parish History
Milston is 3 miles north of Amesbury, one of a string of villages along the River Avon. The parish church of St Mary serves both Milston and Brigmerston. Lancelot Addison (1632-1703) was a Rector of Milston, later to become Dean of Lichfield and Archdeacon of Coventry. He was the father of Joseph Addison, born 1 May 1672 in Milston, the famous English dramatist.
