Ann Assessment was made for part of the Parish of Hilmarton of the several Rates and Duties and sums of money granted to his majesty King William the Third, by virtue of an Act of Parliament made in the six and seventh year of his Majesties Reign, Instituted an act for granting to his Majesty certain Rates and Duties, upon marriages Birth & Burials and upon Bachelors and widowers, for a term of five years for carrying on the war against France with vigour, made by Richard Hilliar and William Iles collectors. Anno Domini 1696. The census of 1697 is the return made.
