A Grittleton born man was the first to marry in Van Dieman’s Land (Tasmania). William Gingel was baptised at Grittleton on 4th October 1778 with sister Mary. Their parents were Walter and Ruth Gingel (nee Wheeler) who were married at Kington Langley in 1756. Read the full story here.
