Location
Chicklade is a small village located in the south-west of the Wiltshire county. It is located on A303 road approximately 18 miles north-west of Salisbury and 1 mile north of Hindon.

The Old School House was originally built in 1848 as a small school house serving the village. The property is now a detached one bedroom house retaining many of the original features.

Aviation
Test Crash Crew 1963
On 22nd October, 1963, the prototype aircraft – BAC One-Eleven G-ASHG, flown by Mike Lithgow, entered a deep stall and crashed near Chicklade with the death of seven crew. In October, 2013, a stone memorial was dedicated at the crash site, listing the seven who died. The ceremony was attended by the C.O. of the Royal Navy Historic Flight, Lord Margadale (owner of the land) & family members of the crew. The memorial bears a quotation from the 1817 edition of a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge “… and everywhere the blue sky belongs to them and is their appointed rest and their native country.”
