Well hello again everyone from a very warm Scotland.

The last couple of months have been the warmest in Scotland since the summer of 1976.  We have had a prolonged period of sunshine and little rain.   The high temperatures have had a beneficial impact on the website – as I am unable to stay out in the sun for too long I have been able to use the time to work on transcribing projects.  Some are ongoing but others have been completed and uploaded to the parish pages.  For details of new items either go to the Facebook Page where the new items are listed twice weekly or check the monthly list published on the website Statistics Page.

I am now settled in to the new house although am still sorting boxes and organising the storage unit which we will need to keep on until I get the garden sorted and can get a good sized shed erected.  We have managed to clear an area of discarded rubbish, brambles and broken stone slabs.  We are using the slabs to build a Jenga tower which will have a shallow water bowl sat on top for birds etc.  Creepy crawlies can use the gaps amongst the stone to build their own little havens.  Where we have cleared the area we are going to wire it of to form a wild meadow area as we need to keep the dog away from the cable that secures the telegraph pole in the garden which backs onto our garden.  In the garden next door to ours belonging to the young lad upstairs he has a very large buddleia bush/tree which at present is beginning to attract load of butterflies.  Our dog is quite curious about the garden as its the first time we have had one since we had her.  She loves the freedom as the four garden strips belong to us and our neighbours are virtually open and she is able to run around all four plots with the owners permission providing we clean up after her.

The weather and the garden has evoked some childhood memories where my mum hung out the washing on a line – we have been lucky to be able to do the same – so much nicer than the use of a tumble drier all the time.

Anyway back to Wiltshire and the website.  John Pope has made another trip to the county since the last blog.  He has added information and images to the website parish pages that he gathered on his latest visit.

Ben Grist (new webmaster/developer) am pleased to say has settled in and has made a number of beneficial changes to the website and the teething issues seem to have ironed out.  Ben has quite a few ideas to take us forward.

Funding is stable but I shall run a Facebook appeal for donations for my birthday in September and if anyone wishes to contribute they can do so via the Just Giving page

If anyone would like to adopt a parish or transcribe or donate material please get in touch.  You may contact us via the Contact Us Tab on the website and use the drop down menu to contact a member of the Admin team
