David Palmer, OPC and Census Co-ordinator

It saddens me to make the announcement that David Palmer passed away on 15th December 2015.  His daughter Karen informed me today (21st December) that he had suffered ill health for some time and had been admitted to hospital but sadly was unable to fight his illness further.  David joined us as a transcriber about 5 years ago and after about a year and a half he decided to take on a parish of his own.  He went on to adopt a few more in the North of the County.  Recently David volunteered to co-ordinate the census transcriptions and set out a programme and set to work on transcribing some parishes himself.  He will be greatly missed for his input to the website.  David was a rather private person and since this project is solely internet based I never had the privilege of meeting him.  What I gleaned over the years was that David was a very committed person to all he strove to achieve.   His daughter told me that due to his illness the internet became a big part of his life so I hope that his being part of our team gave him something to focus on whilst battling his illness.  I am sure that all our users, OPCs and admin team would ask me to pass on their deepest sympathy to Karen and her family at this very sad time.  David produced a great number of items for this website and I hope its a comfort to his family knowing that he has left a small legacy to family historians researching in his adopted parishes.  RIP David.
