Halloween Blog 2023

Firstly lets hope that everyone has a very spooky and fun upcoming Halloween.  And also in the UK a very safe and dry bonfire night on the 5th November.

The autumn so far seems to be leading us into another difficult winter.  Its sad to see people worldwide having to make choices about what they can spend on essentials and in many cases things like family history trips and subscriptions to resource sites have been cut back drastically.  I am proud that our small effort to help researchers is still thriving and free to use for anyone who wishes to do so.  We still have the donation option but that is totally up to the individual and is not a requirement to join the site.  So please spread the word.

Recently we received a communication about a transcript error.  It has been put right but once more we must remind our members to check anything with original sources where possible after all our transcribers are only human and may make mistakes.

Many of you will know of my obsession with Christmas and decorating – sadly this year due to outside circumstances we will not be decorating our home as much as we would normally do – we are preparing to move house but not certain if that will be before xmas or after.  Am sure that 2025 will see us settled in to a new home and raring to go all out again.

John Pope made another visit to Wiltshire in September – look out for his photos of places in and around Bradford-on-Avon in the galleries for parishes thereabouts.

At present we still have no plans for a meet up in 2025.  Perhaps early in the New Year we will make a final decision if its possible to arrange something.

In the next edition of this blog hopefully time permitting and just before Christmas I will put something festive together and possibly discuss a bit about DNA results and its surprises.
