Finally after much advance discussion and hinting we have finally launched the new website. We feel it is far more user friendly and easier to navigate. As with all new ventures we had our teething problems but all seems to be settling down now. Even at my age however I am learning new tricks.

Having had a mention in the WDYTYA magazine we have seen a big increase in the number of people joining the website. Our Facebook page is getting more and more popular too nearing almost 1000 members.

Since the lockdown I have been working from home (my paid work) but sadly I let the situation get to me and the stress levels rose and I had no choice to go sick for awhile. I return to home working very shortly. I really hope things change drastically here in Scotland and I can actually get back to the office and get back to the grindstone so to speak.

Of course the big casualty of the lockdown period was the cancellation of this years meet up in Swindon. Ruth Wood is now beginning to put plans in place for next year. We will still keep the location as Swindon. If anyone wants further information check the Facebook Page.

If anyone would like to join the website team as an OPC or just to transcribe records please get in touch. We have loads of items that need transcribing and the census project is still ongoing too. John Pope is still handing out parishes right across the census dates for parishes.

So to close I would like to remind people that the virus is still out there so stay safe and be careful. If you are planning on trips out and about follow local advice and guidelines, avoid non-essential visits etc. and wear those protective masks and wash the hand regularly.

If you are planning trips to family history locations for personal research take a look at our field trip essentials guide on the website.

Will be back in about 3 months time with more news
