1957 – Salisbury & Warminster – FLORENCE MILDRED WHITE died in Bournemouth, she was born in Warminster. She became the first documented female police officer in England and Wales when she joined the City of Salisbury Police Force in 1918. She rose to the rank of Inspector and retired in 1937.
