This Day in History: 1661-12-28

1661 – Trowbridge – MARY HYDE (nee LANGFORD), died (probably murdered).  She was born in 1578 at 66/67 Fore Street Trowbridge.  On 3rd April 1597 she married Henry Hyde of Dinton.  She was the mother of Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon, and the great grandmother of Queen Mary II, and Queen Anne I.  She is buried in Westminster Abbey
