This Day in History: 1935-01-12

1935 – Westbury – WILLIAM HENRY LAVERTON, woollen manufacturer, died.   He was a member of the Laverton family of Westbury.  The Laverton’s made their fortune through the manufacture of woollen cloth, and were generous benefactors, funding parks, schools, hospitals, meeting rooms, housing, and the swimming pool.  They also owned and improved several mills in the area.
