Parish History

St. Mary's is a medieval church which, on becoming redundant in 1981, became the first church in England to be handed back to the Roman Catholic Church since the English Reformation during the reign of King Henry VIII.  The church was re-opened as a Catholic Church in 1984 and is painstakingly being restored.  For information on the church as one of the catholic faith visit The Parish of St. Thomas of Canterbury, Fairford with St. Mary's Cricklade
