Parish History

The town of Hungerford is 8 miles west of Marlborough in Wiltshire and 26 miles south west of Reading in Berkshire.

Historically, Hungerford was partly in Berkshire and partly in Wiltshire but is now completely within Berkshire.  Some records are held in Berkshire Record Office and some at Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre (see parish registers below).  The Wiltshire part of Hungerford was transferred to Berkshire jurisdiction on 28th March 1895.
